Driver Residential

Pay: The expected base pay range for this on‑site position is $26.50 – $30.00. This range represents a good faith estimate. The specific salary offered may be influenced by a candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.

Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with front, side, or rear‑end load lift attachments depending on the line of business and vehicle type. Drivers transport materials to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities once the truck reaches legal load capacity. Commercial Drivers provide pick‑up service for containers filled with waste or recyclable material that may weigh in excess of 1,000 pounds. Residential Drivers collect residential household waste or recyclables and safely maneuver vehicles in residential environments.

Roll‑off Drivers prepare, load, and transport large mobile open‑top and compactor containers from customer locations. All drivers navigate congested roadways, driveways, alleyways, and lots, with highly skilled backing maneuvers essential for safe operation.

• Operate vehicle in compliance with Waste Management Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA, and DOT requirements as well as all local, state, and federal laws.
• Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections of assigned vehicle and document checks using the standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report).
• Immediately report all unsafe situations or service‑related issues to Operations Manager or Dispatch.
• Attend and participate in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required by WM or directed by the Route Manager.
• Work closely with Operations Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
• Notify Operations Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
• Notify Operations Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions including closed or impassable streets or alleyways, receptacles too heavy to service, or potential safety hazards.
• Communicate customer requests to Operations Manager or Dispatch.
• Completely dump all receptacles and leave the customer’s location clean and free of debris.
• Follow route assignments as directed and complete end‑of‑day documentation and check‑out process.
• Perform all duties as scheduled by Operations Manager or Dispatch and assist other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.

• Required Qualifications
  • 1 year operating a vehicle requiring a CDL, or 1 year equivalent military driving within the last 7 years.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English sufficiently to interact with the public, understand traffic signs, respond to official questions, and complete records or reports.
  • At least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the country where the position is located.
  • CDL – Class A with air‑brake endorsement upon hire, or CDl – Class B with air‑brake endorsement upon hire.
