We are seeking a candidate who can operate and maintain various types of equipment, work outdoors, collaborate with a team, communicate effectively, and commit to safety and public service. Company‑sponsored CDL training is offered with no upfront cost and full salary paid during training, including lodging, transportation, and per‑diem if necessary.
Salary- Transportation Maintenance Tech I – Salary Grade A16;
Salary Range: $40,918.00 – $61,130.00 yearly. - Transportation Maintenance Tech II – Salary Grade A17;
Salary Range: $42,976.00 – $64,469.00 yearly. - Transportation Maintenance Tech III – Salary Grade A18;
Salary Range: $45,521.00 – $71,055.00 yearly.

Work Shift:
Day shift, 40 hours per week – Mon–Thu, 6:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (4‑10 shift). On‑site only.

The role involves routine transportation operations and maintenance support work such as roadway maintenance and repair; light and heavy equipment operation; preventive and minor maintenance on equipment; traffic control; and helping the public during emergency situations. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details.
Essential Duties for Transportation Maintenance Tech I- Assist in identifying, repairing, and installing signs, delineators, mailbox supports, and posts; perform basic welding as needed; use and move equipment, tools, materials, and products related to these activities.
- Assist local law enforcement officials at accident sites; assist stranded motorists as required.
- Assist with traffic control; place and gather cones, warning signs, barricades, and flag traffic.
- Determine placement of traffic control devices and install/move devices.
- Inspect barricades to ensure compliance with barricade standards.
- Maintain highways and rights‑of‑way; perform roadway repairs; erect and repair guard rails, highway markers, and signs; haul materials and equipment to job sites.
- Maintain picnic and rest areas, rights‑of‑way, maintenance yards, and comfort stations.
- Move, pick up litter and roadway debris.
- Mow rights‑of‑way and picnic and rest areas; perform plant and landscape maintenance including trimming trees and brush.
- Operate light equipment such as a front‑end loader‑one and a quarter cubic yard or less, pneumatic roller, rotary broom, spreader box, backhoe, street sweeper, and mower.
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections (PMI), routine servicing and minor repairs on equipment; complete various required reports including timekeeping, equipment forms, inventory, accident forms, and PMI.
- Sands or cleans bridges and roads, posts warning signs, helps the public and performs other work as directed during emergency situations such as floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, snowstorms, accidents, and hazardous material spills.
- Assist with inspecting maintenance contract construction methods and workmanship to ensure contractors build and maintain roadways, bridges, traffic signals, and related highway structures in accordance with plans and specifications.
- Perform other job responsibilities as assigned.
- Serve as the only maintenance contract inspector on a small project.
