GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Rides on a school bus for the purpose of maintaining order and supervising the loading and unloading of buses at various stopping points.
COMPLEXITY OF DUTIESThis is routine work which includes responsibility for the safety of school children on regularly scheduled bus trips to and from school.
TYPICAL DUTIES- Maintains order on bus and ensures that children are seated while the bus is in motion.
- Supervises loading and unloading of the bus.
- Helps children cross the highway safely.
- Assists pupils and driver as needed.
- Familiarity with the bus routes in the district.
- Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions.
- Dependability.
- Good physical condition.
Ability to get along with children and to maintain discipline.
NOTECandidates must satisfy the physical and mental requirements for school bus monitor set forth in the Rules and Regulations of the New York State commissioner of Education.
