Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a related field
- Ohio Registered Nurse Licensure required
- 2 Years geriatric or chronic care experience required
- Required minimum of 5 years in a full‑time nursing related career employed and/or instructing required
- Required to obtain a 2‑Year Provisional Career Tech Workforce Development and/or 5‑Year Advanced Career Tech Workforce Development license to teach Allied Health & Nursing Course of Study, CTE program code JM, Diversified Health Occupations code (070998) and Nurse Assisting code (070303)
- NATCEP experience and TTT Certification preferred
- 1 Full year experience as RN in nursing home preferred (Program Coordinator)
- Certification in Medical Assisting preferred
- Experience in teaching preferred
Knowledge and
Skills:
- Knowledge of nursing/medical fields such as hospitals, clinics, doctor’s office, home care, nursing homes and others
- Team planning experience
- Willingness to supervise co‑curricular and healthcare capstone activities within and outside of school settings
- Experience in demonstrating instructional techniques and media for various learner levels
- Effective communication, active listening, organization, problem solving and classroom management skills
- Basic computer and first‑aid skills
- Ability to submit grades and attendance electronically
Essential Functions:
- Ensure safety of all students
- Teach and evaluate students using sound instructional practices
- Manage classroom and individual student behavior to maintain a good learning environment
- Prepare clear and timely lesson plans
- Maintain accurate and complete records as required
- Provide guidance to promote student welfare and educational development
- Attend parent/teacher conferences and distribute homework assignments
- Assess student learning through tests, quizzes, or project evaluations on a regular basis
- Provide complete lesson plans for substitute teachers
- Communicate student progress with interim reports, report cards and conferences
- Observe ethics of the teaching profession and adhere to district policies
- Instruct assigned classes at designated times and locations
- Refer students suspected of learning disabilities for diagnosis and appropriate support
- Assist administration in implementing student life and conduct procedures
- Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities
- Act as a teacher, facilitator and information source in subject specialty
- Teach new concepts and facilitate activities enabling varied learning styles
- Make contacts with the public with tact and diplomacy
- Maintain confidentiality regarding home, discipline, medical and family history information
- Interact positively with staff, students and parents
- Attend required meetings and in‑services
- Refer attendance, health and psychological concerns to Principal or Guidance Counselor
- Participate in professional development seminars and workshops
- Promote good public relations through appearance, attitude and conversation
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to student maturity
- Provide guidance for student organization registration and facilitation as a learning extension
- Follow the approved scope and sequence of instructional programs
- Employ instructional methods and materials aligned with state learning outcomes
- Apply content standards for subject area expertise

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Attend educational field trips and National Technical Honors Society events
- Serve as career tech student organization advisor to HOSA regional, state and national events
- Attend and monitor students at HOSA events
- Acquire needed certifications for student industry credentialing and implement aligned certification standards and requirements in the classroom and lab
