General Activities Therapist 1 – Treatment Mall (2600038E)
Location: Heartland Behavioral Health, 3000 Erie Street South, Massillon, OH 44646
Schedule: Full-time, Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm, every other weekend
Union: OCSEA/AFSCME
Pay: $21.19 hourly (Step 1 of the OCSEA Pay Range Schedule, opportunity for increase after 6 months)
Responsibilities- Plan, organize, conduct, and ensure implementation of Activity Therapy programs/services that meet patients’ interest level and have value in physical, mental, emotional, social, and/or spiritual domains; ensure programming is therapeutic and goal‑reaching.
- Assess when to change an activity based on attendance numbers and patient feedback.
- May complete activity assessments (as required).
- Escort patients off grounds for community outings.
- Document patients’ responses to treatment plan goals in the electronic record.
- Observe and monitor activities of patients during leisure and program time.
- Escort patients to and from activities; maintain patient attendance for general activities and/or leisure times; track Level II’s while in the treatment mall and make observations to complete treatment mall safety rounds.
- Meet with patients to assist in completing satisfaction surveys if needed; assist with oversight when volunteers offer programs such as bingo and religious services/programs.
- Communicate and/or attend meetings with Treatment Teams for cohesive patient care.
- Primary work area is the Treatment Mall with some work on units.
- Completion of an associate degree in recreation with 6 months experience in activity therapy or recreation.
- Or completion of an undergraduate core program in a recreational area (e.g., physical education).
- Or 24 months experience as an Activities Aide (44210).
- Or equivalent of the Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
