Position: Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)

Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)

Guided by local needs and the Ohio Operating Standards for the Education of Children with Disabilities, the Registered Behavior Technician implements, collects data and monitors the behavior support plans as directed by the BCBA®. The Registered Behavior Technician provides support using behavior management techniques and intervention strategies to reduce behaviors that interfere with the learning process. The registered Behavior Technician will obtain and maintain Registered Behavior Technician™ (RBT®) credentials through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB®).

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist Behavior Analyst/staff in conducting functional behavior assessments
  • Conducts reliability checks with classroom staff regarding delivery of token system points or other behavior systems, as trained and authorized by BCBA
  • Conducts fidelity checks to ensure proper implementation of behavior and/or instructional procedures
  • Inputs and analyzes behavior data using the recommended database system
  • Assist Behavior Analyst in analyzing student behavioral and instructional (antecedent) data Records behavioral and instructional data in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner
  • Assess student reinforcers and reinforcement strategies
  • Implements established classroom or transportation behavior management procedure
  • Assist teachers/staff in the use of behavior management strategies
  • Implements token program reinforcement system or other research based system
  • Implements district safety management training procedures as prescribed
  • Assists teacher/staff with development of student training materials
  • Assists in implementation of activities of daily living programs, including feeding and toileting
  • Implement program generalization strategies in community, home, and other environments
  • Provide teacher/staff with student behavior reports at team meetings and per request
  • Participate in staff meetings/trainings as directed by BCBA
  • Communicate relevant behavior information to classroom team on a daily basis or as needed
  • Complete all forms, reports and other paperwork in a timely, efficient and accurate manner
  • Notify building principal of personal concerns in a timely manner
  • Maintain current knowledge of each student's special circumstances and needs
  • Understands core underlying principles of applied behavior analysis
  • Knows District policies and procedures
  • Knows the building program's behavior management system
  • Knows verbal and non-verbal intervention strategies
  • Knows Physical Management Training procedures
  • Knows all individual behavior support programs
  • Knows how to use all relevant computer software programs
  • Knows and understands crisis management procedures
  • Attend biweekly scheduled supervision meetings with BCBA
  • Maintain RBT credentials
  • Participates in assigned training and staff development opportunities Seeks out training and professional development opportunities
  • Participates in yearly performance goals/or evaluations
  • Provide assistance to student transportation as needed and per District policy
  • Uses all relevant computer software programs
  • Complies with all relevant policies and procedures
  • Organizes and maintains student/program information
  • Complies with all local, state and federal laws and regulations
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Perform other duties that may be assigned by Student Services Director/Building Principal/Designee
  • Maintain an acceptable attendance record.
