What You'll Do At DBH
Under the direction of the Epic Training Manager, the Epic HIM Principal Trainer is responsible for maintaining Epic HIM certification and leading training program development, delivery, and continuous improvement. This role supports end users, collaborates with Epic and hospital teams, and ensures effective training environments and system utilization across the organization. The Principal Trainer serves as a key resource for Health Information Management (HIM) workflows, bridging operational needs with Epic system functionality and training excellence.
Key Responsibilities Training Program Development & Delivery- Maintain Epic HIM Principal Trainer certification, including Training Environment Build certification
- Complete ongoing Epic HIM continuing education requirements
- Develop, maintain, and update training materials for Epic HIM training tracks in alignment with SOPs and Epic Training Team best practices
- Revise training content based on system build changes, workflow updates, and identified training needs
- Lead and support training sessions for end users, Credentialed Trainers, and Super Users
- Participate in training team quality improvement and performance improvement initiatives
- Provide recommendations for enhancements to Epic HIM training delivery and materials
- Collaborate with Credentialed Trainers and Super Users to assess training effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement
- Participate in HIM workgroup and Epic training team meetings
- Provide technical support to clinicians and end users for Epic HIM applications
- Serve as a primary hospital point of contact for the Epic team
- Analyze and evaluate Epic system functionality, performance, and user satisfaction
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve system issues and application errors
- Support implementation of system strategies, policies, and procedures
- Promote consistency in Epic system use across departments and sites
- Act as a liaison between system users and the Epic team
- Respond to programmatic issues and communicate system updates, decisions, and directives
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders across departments
- Coordinate activities with other facilities and central office teams
- Support Epic-related events and provide cross-site assistance as needed
- Assist in the design, build, and maintenance of Epic training environments
- Validate Epic build functionality within training environments to ensure effective end‑user learning
- Collaborate with Credentialed Trainers to identify and resolve training environment issues
- Participate in testing of system enhancements and reporting updates
- Assist in communicating system changes, service interruptions, and performance concerns

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Compensation
: $39.22 per hour (pay range 14 on E1 Exempt Pay Range Schedule)
- 5 years of training or 5 years of experience in business administration, management, or public administration
- OR completion of undergraduate core program in business administration, management, or public administration; 36 months of training or 36 months of experience in supervisory, administrative, and/or managerial position
- OR completion of undergraduate core program in a field of study commensurate with program area; 36 months of training or 36 months of experience in supervisory, administrative, managerial, and/or staff position involving planning, research, and/or policy/procedure development
- OR 1 year of experience as Program Administrator 2, 63123
- OR equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above
