The Legacy Project of Stark Country, founded in 2015, is dedicated to mentoring students and connecting families with caring adult role models who walk alongside them to encourage growth and build confidence. Through weekly school-based mentoring groups and dynamic community center programs, the organization creates safe, supportive spaces where relationships deepen and practical life skills develop. The Legacy Project works in close partnership with local schools, foundations, community organizations, businesses, and individuals to expand its reach and impact.

Role Description

The Program Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Massillon, OH, responsible for overseeing and coordinating The Legacy Project’s school-based mentoring groups and community center programs. This role includes planning, implementing, and evaluating program activities; supervising and supporting staff, volunteers, and mentors; and maintaining strong relationships with partner schools, families, and community organizations. The Program Manager will manage program schedules, track participation and outcomes, and ensure that all activities align with the organization’s mission, safety standards, and quality expectations.

Day-to-day responsibilities also include facilitating communication between stakeholders, organizing trainings and events, handling basic administrative and reporting tasks, and contributing to outreach and community engagement efforts.

Qualifications
  • Program coordination and management skills, including planning, organizing, and evaluating youth and family-focused programs.
  • Relationship-building and communication skills to work effectively with students, families, school partners, staff, volunteers, and community organizations.
  • Leadership and supervision abilities to guide mentors and volunteers, foster teamwork, and support a positive, inclusive program culture.
  • Administrative and organizational skills, such as time management, record-keeping, and basic data tracking for program outcomes and reporting.
  • Experience in youth development, education, social services, or community-based programs, preferably in mentoring or family support settings.
  • Ability to work on-site in Massillon, OH, with flexibility for some evening or weekend programming as needed.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, cultural humility, and commitment to equity, inclusion, and trauma-informed practices.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in education, social work, nonprofit management, human services, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
