The RN supervises the care provided by individuals such as licensed practical nurses, patient care technicians/state tested nursing assistants/nurse aides, medical assistants, and etc., if applicable.

Department Summary

Aultman Massillon Emergency Department is a free-standing ED and is comprised of 12 private exam rooms and 1 resuscitation room for patient care, and a decontamination room that contains a separate drainage tank. The ED has a common lobby area for patients and visitors, three additional sub-waiting areas located throughout the main treatment area, an EMS report room, laboratory test room, offices, and storage space.

Common shared areas include the employee lounge and diagnostic services for radiologic tests. Services are provided to patients of all ages who present to the ED 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

  • One designated resuscitation room.
  • Three rooms, with a sub-waiting room, are utilized as basic care rooms for patients who require medical evaluation/treatment for minor medical illnesses or minor injuries. The patient(s) in the sub-waiting room is/are vertical and waiting for reevaluation after laboratory or diagnostic test results, or additional evaluation.
  • Twelve rooms available and eleven rooms are hardwired for cardiac, non-invasive blood pressure, and pulse oximetry monitoring.
  • One of the eight treatment room can accommodate the bariatric patient.
  • All treatment rooms and designated restrooms are handicap accessible.
  • One treatment room is a negative pressure room.

There are no inpatient or overnight beds.

Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
  • Current, active licensure as a Registered Nurse through the Ohio Board of Nursing.
  • Obtain and maintain current American Heart Association (AHA) training in Basic Life Support (BLS) utilizing Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) is required.
  • Certification preferred for RNs meeting applicable certification eligibility requirements.
  • Membership in professional nursing organization preferred.
Department Qualifications
  • Obtain and maintain current American Heart Association (AHA) training in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) utilizing Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) is required.
  • Obtain and maintain current National Institute's of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS). Certification required within 90 days of hire.

  • Prioritize patient care based on acuity and clinical presentations and initiates appropriate nursing interventions within the scope of practice and organizational policy.
