Position: Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) Engineering Technician in Matthews

Bunnell-Lammons Engineering, Inc.

A full-time Geotechnical / Construction Materials Testing Technician is needed to visit solid waste construction sites throughout the southeast to ensure soil, geosynthetics, and concrete meet construction standards.

A Day in the Life

Under the supervision of a registered professional engineer, work as a team member with site managers, general contractors, and engineers to perform inspections, sampling, and testing. Monitor contractor activities, onsite testing, and reporting of earthwork, soil construction, geosynthetic baseliner, closure cap, piping, and gas extraction systems. Collect concrete, soil, and other site materials for testing to ensure construction standards and specifications are met.

  • Relevant education and experience
  • Schedule flexibility
  • Ability to work out of town for several weeks at a time
  • Proficiency with smartphones and computers for communication and time‑tracking
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, walk on slopes, and meet physical requirements
  • Efficient use of hand tools and testing apparatuses
  • Pass a drug screening
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • ACI, NICET, and ICC Certifications are a plus!
Geotechnical / Construction Materials Testing Technician Work Schedule

Work schedule varies by season, typically following normal construction daylight hours. Schedule flexibility is required.
