Responsibilities
- Provide subject matter expertise and guidance in identification, analysis and resolution of problems.
- Engage with the industry and other utilities to assess and improve Duke’s program structure and implement best practices.
- Ensure accomplishment of business goals through effective leadership planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities of self and others.
- Review and prepare thorough technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches, and craft recommendations for necessary actions.
- Conduct engineering and related studies.
- Participate in frequent working group phone calls and face‑to‑face meetings to coordinate and implement changes driven by fleet and industry best practices.
- Strive to continually improve job‑related technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance.
- Assist in developing appropriate curriculum to develop others in the area of subject matter expertise.
- Develop positive working relationships to coordinate work activities and leverage industry expertise.
- Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
- Maintain accurate records and files.
- Support the company’s goals and represent the company positively and professionally.
- Coach and mentor other Engineering Technologists and early‑career engineers.
- Associated degree in Engineering Technology and minimum 8 years of related work experience.
- In lieu of required degree, high school/GED and minimum 10 years related work experience.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Experience in the utility industry.
- Demonstrated skills applying leadership in technical project management, program oversight, and/or governance.
- Hybrid work: work from both remote and onsite locations after onboarding; hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to the designated facility.
- Reliable transportation to ensure timely arrival at the applicable facility.
- Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of individuals from diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
- 5–15% travel required.
- Relocation assistance provided as applicable.
- No visa sponsorship; position requires lawful work in the U.S. without future sponsorship.
