Build Flight-Critical Parts with Precision

At Northeast Tool in Matthews, NC (just outside Charlotte), your craft as a CNC professional shapes components that take to the skies. This is hands-on, high-accuracy work on advanced equipment—supported by a team that invests in your growth and your future.

A Day in the Shop

You clock in, review travelers and prints, load raw stock, and bring metal to spec on multi-axis CNC equipment. Throughout the shift you verify dimensions, adjust offsets, monitor tool wear, and keep machines dialed in—so parts meet tight tolerances every time. You’ll wrap up by documenting results, performing light finishing, and leaving a clean, organized cell for the next run.

What You’ll Operate
  • 5-axis mills, vertical mills, multi-axis mill-turns, lathes, and Wire EDMs
  • Examples: CNC Mill (3–4 axis VMC) (Haas, Okuma, Doosan, Dmg Mori Seiki); CNC Lathe (2–4 axis) (Haas, Okuma, Doosan, Dmg Mori Seiki); CNC Mill (5+ axis VMC) (Dmg Mori Seiki); CNC Lathe (5+ axis) (Dmg Mori Seiki)
How You’ll Spend Your Time
  • Run CNC programs to fabricate aerospace-grade metal parts to blueprint specifications
  • Interpret drawings, approved sketches, and written/ verbal instructions to achieve required dimensions and tolerances
  • Change, insert, secure, and recalibrate tooling as needed
  • Watch machine behavior to catch malfunctions, out-of-tolerance conditions, or process drift; adjust or elevate to a lead as needed
  • Measure using micrometers, calipers, and other precision tools; document and maintain part paperwork
  • Perform light finishing (deburr, clean, tap/countersink via hand tools or drill press)
  • Control tolerance levels, track and manage tool wear, and uphold 5S and total preventive maintenance
  • Load and unload material and parts safely and efficiently

Use digital metrology with an emphasis on dimensional accuracy and repeatability
  • Pitch in with other duties as assigned
What You Bring
  • High School Diploma/GED and 1+ year in a metal-cutting machine shop
  • Or a blend of higher education and experience that demonstrates capability
  • Comfort with shop math and GD&T
  • Ability to read blueprints and tolerances; fluent in machine shop decimals (thousandths and tenths)
  • Proven skill with micrometers, calipers, and related gauges—delivering consistent, reliable measurements
  • Strong learning mindset and adherence to established processes and procedures
Stand-Out Qualifications
  • Associate degree (machine tool technology or industrial manufacturing preferred) or two years of equivalent higher education
  • Experience in an AS9100 environment
  • Background with multi-axis machining; DMG Mori, Grob, and/or Okuma strongly preferred
  • Comfort holding tight tolerances (2–5 tenths)
