Senior / Lead Engineer (GenAI) – Level 3 or 4
Location Charlotte, NC (preferred)
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior or Lead Engineer (Level 3 or
4) with strong GenAI development experience and deep Java expertise to support AI-driven infrastructure and middleware initiatives. This role is highly hands-on and requires strong backend, distributed systems, and real-time data processing experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and support GenAI-driven solutions with a strong emphasis on Java development
- Contribute to AI infrastructure and middleware build-outs in support of scalable AI systems
- Build and support real-time and distributed data processing solutions
- Work with technologies such as Apache Flink and/or Apache Ignite for streaming, in-memory computing, or distributed workloads
- Collaborate closely with principal engineers on system design, architecture, and implementation
- Perform hands-on coding, debugging, and optimization
- Clearly articulate technical decisions, trade-offs, and system behavior
- Senior/Lead-level engineering experience (Level 3 or
4) - Strong Java coding expertise (Python preferred as a secondary language)
- Hands-on experience with GenAI or AI-driven systems
- Experience with Apache Flink and/or Apache Ignite in backend, streaming, or distributed system use cases
- Infrastructure and middleware engineering background
- Hands-on experience with Cursor tooling
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly
- Experience building or supporting AI platforms, GenAI pipelines, or ML/AI infrastructure
- Background in large-scale, distributed, or high-throughput systems
- Comfort working in environments that require real-time problem-solving and deep technical ownership
