Project Type: Ground-Up & Interior Commercial Construction
About the RoleWe’re seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to lead commercial construction projects throughout the Greater Chicago area. This role is responsible for managing projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring schedules, budgets, quality, and safety standards are met on ground-up and/or interior commercial projects
.
- Manage all phases of construction projects from kickoff to turnover
- Oversee project budgets, cost controls, and forecasting
- Develop and maintain project schedules; proactively manage delays
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and internal teams
- Lead project meetings with owners, architects, and consultants
- Review contracts, change orders, RFIs, and submittals
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and local codes
- Resolve field issues efficiently and maintain strong client relationships
- Deliver projects on time, within budget, and to contract specifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager in commercial construction
- Proven experience on ground-up and/or interior commercial projects
- Strong understanding of construction means and methods
- Experience managing subcontractors and multiple trades
- Proficiency with project management software (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, etc.)
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with office, healthcare, retail, industrial, or mixed-use commercial projects
- Familiarity with Chicago-area permitting and inspection processes
- Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred, not required)
