Description

The Assessment Coordinator will provide assessment support to the Associate Dean of Curriculum and Assessment as well as faculty and staff to develop and maintain the College's assessment-related dashboards and systems. The Assessment Coordinator will manage the implementation of a comprehensive program of assessment for the purpose of curricular and institutional improvements in accordance with accreditation requirements and in support of Institutional Effectiveness and Academic Services, directly supporting faculty committees and work groups and encouraging continuous improvement across campus.

Description

of Essential Functions (critical tasks)
  • Support the Associate Dean of Curriculum and Assessment in maintaining assessment-related dashboards with the use of data dashboard systems (Tableau) and student information systems (Colleague/Ellucian SaaS).
  • Use working knowledge of assessment software (Helio Campus) and the learning management system (Canvas).
  • Facilitate the compilation, cleaning, and merging of datasets from a variety of sources, including removing errors, identifying outliers, and transforming data into a format that can be used for assessment purposes.
  • Conduct a variety of quantitative and qualitative analyses to examine trends and support assessment.
  • Create interactive dashboards, pivot tables, infographics, reports, and presentations that communicate insights to stakeholders, using assessment software, learning management systems, student information systems, and data dashboard systems as well as spreadsheet, word processing, and database software (Microsoft).
  • Be the technical support and administrator of the assessment software.
  • Develop, organize, facilitate, and train end users in collecting and analyzing assessments.
  • Lead, maintain, and update assessment data and reports using assessment software to track outcomes and assessments, including course learning outcomes (CLOs), program learning outcomes (PLOs), and institutional learning outcomes (ILOs, Laker Learning Competencies).
  • Serve as technical resource to faculty and staff in the development and preparation of assessment data, narratives, statistical analyses, and reports.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, division chairs, and institutional effectiveness staff to ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of assessment data and program review.
  • Collaborate with curriculum, instructional design, scheduling, and other college personnel to ensure that outcome assessments and database software tools that house data are current.
  • Provide technical and logistical support for the Learning Excellence Committee and the Faculty Assessment Liaison for committee meetings, reporting functions, and other outcomes and assessment work.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others, using interpersonal skills such as tact, patience and courtesy; take initiative and work independently with general supervision.

  • Specific Functional

    Job Requirements Education

    Master's degree from an accredited institution in education, curriculum and instruction, instructional design, data science, statistics, or a related field.

    Experience

    At least two (2) years teaching experience in higher education preferred. At least two (2) years of experience in using data to formulate and assess measurable learning outcomes as related to higher education preferred. Experience using learning management systems and instructional technology preferred.

    Knowledge

    Knowledge of the higher education system and community college philosophy preferred. Knowledge of current techniques and procedures used in the design, development, and assessment of curriculum. Ability to evaluate assessments and make recommendations to strengthen courses, programs, competencies, and/or department objectives. Working knowledge of database management and development. Knowledge of learning management systems preferred.

    Skills

    Demonstrated ability to design, organize, produce, and assess instructional programs. Demonstrated experience analyzing, writing, and presenting quantitative and qualitative data with attention to detail. Demonstrated conflict resolution, problem‑solving, and interpersonal communication skills.

    Personal

    Ability to be creative and innovative required. Demonstrated ability to communicate coherently in presentations, in writing, and online. Demonstrated ability to work impactfully with faculty and staff one‑to‑one and in group settings. Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict with a variety of personality types. Ability to prioritize, organize, and complete multiple tasks within stated deadlines. Ability to demonstrate optimism, high energy, and a sense of humor preferred.
