Job Summary
The Retrofits Electrical Engineer designs, programs, and documents electrical upgrades for existing machinery to improve performance, extend lifecycle, or meet new specifications. This role manages electrical drawings, PLC/HMI programming, and supports all phases of retrofit projects—from design and testing to on-site implementation—ensuring timely, compliant, and customer-focused results.
Essential Functions- Define retrofit project scope and requirements based on customer specifications.
- Design and update electrical schematics and documentation in EPLAN P8.
- Program, modify, and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs and HMIs (B&R/Siemens a plus).
- Manage BOMs in PLM and support workshop build, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Provide technical and on-site support through startup, validation, and project completion.
- Proficient in Allen-Bradley PLC and HMI programming (Studio 5000).
- Skilled in EPLAN P8 for electrical schematics and documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting ability for electrical and control systems.
- Knowledge of NEC, NFPA, and ANSI electrical and safety standards.
- Effective at managing priorities, working independently, and communicating clearly.
- Bilingual (Spanish, French) is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (or related field).
- 2–5 years of experience in electrical controls design, programming, and documentation.
- Hands-on experience with industrial machinery, retrofits preferred
Work is performed largely in an office or climate-controlled warehouse environment. Some hours will be spent at various remote locations. Hours of work are generally during regular business. There will be some variation in work hours due to employee shift schedules, special projects, deadlines, customer needs and various other business concerns. Out of town and overnight travel, both local and international, is required for business and education, by air and/or auto.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 35 pounds, as well as the ability to bend, kneel, walk or sit for extended periods of time. The ability to reach above head and below knees is also required.
