Salary: $65,000 - $75,000 annually

Are you a Civil Engineering graduate ready to build your career while making a real impact on transportation, water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects? The Upchurch Group is seeking a Civil Engineer (FE/EIT) to join our growing team in Mattoon, Illinois.
What You’ll Do- Perform engineering calculations for transportation, water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects
- Assist with project planning, design development, and technical analysis
- Prepare construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, permit applications, and technical reports
- Develop quantity takeoffs and detailed construction cost estimates
- Create engineering drawings using industry-standard CAD software
- Prepare stormwater management reports and supporting documentation
- Review engineering plans for ordinance and regulatory compliance
- Conduct field visits, site observations, and data collection activities
- Coordinate with engineers, surveyors, planners, GIS specialists, and other project stakeholders
- Support projects throughout design, permitting, and construction phases
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited program
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain FE/EIT certification within one year of employment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed
- Experience with Open Roads Designer, Geopak, HEC-RAS, and TR-20
- Knowledge of transportation, municipal, utility, or stormwater design
- Familiarity with engineering calculations, permitting processes, and infrastructure design standards
- CAD drafting and design experience
- Work alongside experienced Professional Engineers and technical experts
- Clear pathway toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
