Position: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) - Heart and Vascular Institute & Cardiology

Overview

The Certified Medical Assistant / Registered Medical Assistant performs routine administrative and patient care support duties in a medical practice to assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients and ensures that the office runs smoothly.

Qualifications
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) – National Health career Association (NHA)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days – American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) (ARMA) – American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA)
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) (AAH) – American Allied Health (AAH)
  • Certified Medical Assistant (NCCT) – National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) (AMT) – American Medical Technologists (AMT)
  • Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) – National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
  • Education:

    H.S. Diploma/GED
  • Work Experience:
Responsibilities
  • Rooming patients: collect information on chief complaint, family history, social history, surgical history, and medication reconciliation upon arrival.
  • Telephone interactions: complete necessary communications with patients, families, pharmacies, and other health care facilities.
  • Administrative tasks: patient check‑in/out, prior authorizations, scheduling appointments, verification of benefits, coordination of referrals and testing.
  • Office procedures as directed and per department competencies.
  • Perform procedures such as urine catheterizations, bladder scanning, suture/staple removal, application or removal of casts, reading results of negative TB skin tests, and other diagnostic testing at point of care.
  • Provide patient with written instructions regarding procedures, medications, or follow‑up instructions per provider direction.
  • Retrieve and provide condition‑specific education from internet, internal website, or printed materials per provider orders.
  • Administer medications per provider order and assist with prescription medication refills per department protocols.
  • Maintain department‑specific competencies related to point‑of‑care testing, equipment handling, and specialty training.

Compensation And Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $18.33 per hour – $29.69 per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
