Phlebotomist

• Perform venipuncture and skin puncture in the ambulatory setting
• Verify patient identification and specimen labeling
• Register patients and enter lab orders into the lab computer system
• Perform routine and complex blood-drawing procedures, including venipuncture, finger and heel sticks, and blood cultures
• Perform point-of-care testing specimen processing and EKGs in the ambulatory setting

• High school diploma/GED (Required)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days through the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Ability to perform venipuncture and skin puncture
• Ability to perform finger sticks, heel sticks, and blood cultures
• Ability to perform point-of-care testing specimen processing and EKGs
• Ability to register patients and enter lab orders into a laboratory computer system
• Must work day shift, Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m., with every fifth Saturday

Demonstrates proficiency in performing venipuncture, skin puncture, and point-of-care testing in an ambulatory setting, while ensuring accurate patient registration and specimen processing. Holds Basic Life Support certification and is capable of executing complex blood-drawing procedures.
