As VP of Data & Systems, you will set the vision and oversee execution of Becker’s enterprise data strategy
. You’ll define data architecture and governance, ensure pipelines and models are designed and maintained effectively, and make decisions about tool selection, vendor partnerships, and budget allocation.

Your role will also include guiding the company’s use of AI and workflow automation — from embedding tools like ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini into everyday workflows, to orchestrating automation with platforms such as n8n or Gumloop that reduce manual effort and scale operations.

This is a highly visible role with direct impact on every major business line. Your mandate is to make existing systems work together seamlessly while leveraging modern AI, automation, and scalable data architectures so the business can scale faster, operate more efficiently, and deliver stronger ROI to sponsors and partners.

• Define and oversee data architecture, modeling, and integration standards
  , including adoption of medallion architectures (bronze, silver, gold layers) for scalable and governed data access.
• Lead the roadmap for data pipelines, transformation, and modeling using tools like dbt, Coalesce, Fivetran, or Airbyte to ensure data is clean, unified, and reliable.
• Evaluate, pilot, and operationalize AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) to support workflow automation, data analysis, reporting, and personalization.
• Drive automation of repetitive processes through platforms such as n8n, Agentic, or similar orchestration tools

• Own vendor evaluation, contract negotiation, and technology budgeting to maximize ROI.
• Establish strong data governance and compliance frameworks for accuracy, privacy, lineage, and cross‑functional alignment.
• Deliver dashboards and reporting that provide visibility for executives, sales, and sponsors.
• Partner with sales, marketing, events, and editorial leadership to ensure data systems enable smarter targeting, workflow automation, and better sponsor outcomes.
• Manage and grow an internal team or vendor/contractor resources, ensuring execution is timely and aligned with business priorities.

• Clean, unified customer and audience data available across the business.

• AI and workflow automation tools embedded in daily operations, improving speed and efficiency.
• Improved sponsor ROI reporting that drives renewals and upsell opportunities.

• Documented and functioning medallion architecture supporting analytics and reporting at scale.

• 8–12 years of experience in data systems, IT, or marketing technology leadership

• Proven success overseeing data architecture, modeling, pipelines, and integration in a complex business environment.
• Familiarity with modern data stacks (Snowflake, Hub Spot, Omeda, Zoom Info, BI tools).
• Hands‑on experience with transformation/modeling (dbt, Coalesce) and ETL/ELT (Fivetran, Airbyte).
• Knowledge of AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) and workflow automation platforms (n8n, Agentic, or similar).
• Understanding of medallion architectures and how to implement them in a pragmatic, business‑focused way.
• Skilled in evaluating and managing vendors, with ownership of tool selection and budgeting.
• Background in media, events, associations, or martech strongly preferred.
• Strong executive presence and communication skills — able to translate data and AI initiatives into business impact.
