Gas Service Technician

Job Description

RECONN is hiring Meter Inspection Technicians to locate and inspect upward gas meters for leaks and corrosion. The starting pay is $18/hr for new technicians and up to $21/hr for those with substantial prior experience.

• Check gas meters for leaks, corrosion, and visual defects.
• Ensure all required documentation is completed accurately.
• Report to the scheduled work area at the start of each shift.
• Identify abnormal operating conditions and fill out all forms associated with an inspection visit (electronic or paper).

• Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Available to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
• Ability to travel locally during the business day; some out-of-area or overnight travel may be expected.
• Able to pass a drug screen (safety‑sensitive position).
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
• Physically able to stand, walk for long periods, bend, stoop, and lift up to 75 lb.
• Able to distinguish between colors used to identify wiring and mark underground utilities.
• Computer proficiency.
• Able to read, understand, and reference locate tickets, maps, and prints; possess basic math skills to calculate distances.
• Strong communication skills; customer service experience is a plus.
