Upper School Principal
Greenville Classical Academy is looking for a new Upper School Principal to lead 6th through 12th grades. The ideal candidate has a strong background in and knowledge of classical Christian education, a graduate degree in a related field, and experience in leadership. The ideal candidate will also exhibit a hospitable, approachable, Christlike character; a love of excellence; a commitment to lifelong learning;
and the ability to work well within a team.
The Upper School Principal is responsible for the successful implementation of the school’s vision and mission within the Upper School faculty and student culture. Working under the supervision of the Head of School, the Upper School Principal oversees the Logic and Rhetoric School students and faculty. The Upper School Principal is in charge of student disciplinary needs, faculty responsibilities, and will be available to handle day-to-day needs for assistance and scheduling.
Annual evaluation will be based on this job description, yearly goals and objectives specific to the position, and general job performance.
- Foster a student culture marked by integrity, high expectations, and warmth, in alignment with the school handbooks.
- Provide oversight to student leadership development in the National Honor Society, the house system, and weekly chapel.
- Provide Christlike avenues to pursue reconciliation of conflict between students, parents, and teachers.
- Foster a faculty culture marked by excellence, growth, godliness, professionalism, and joy.
- Collaborate with the Dean of Academics, Grammar School Principal, and Head of School to train and develop faculty through formal and informal observations and in the construction of teacher improvement plans.
- Assist in promoting an education driven by a Christ-centered worldview, integration of subjects, careful attention to great books, and a curriculum infused with the seven liberal arts.
- Participate in annual opportunities for professional growth.
- Serve as a leader and an advocate of the school and its mission and vision, avoiding actual or perceived behavior personally or among the staff which may cast a negative impression on the school and its Christ-centered mission and vision.
- Participate in various academic, athletic, spiritual, and co-curricular activities to supervise and advocate for the school as appropriate and assigned as available and appropriate. This includes but is not limited to attending athletic events, concerts, and being a consistent presence on campus especially in the Upper School.
- Support the Athletic Director in all aspects of the Athletic Director’s responsibilities and partner with the Head of School in expectation and collaboration regarding athletics.
- Support the development of the Advancement Office and the Head of Enrollment and any potential capital campaigns and fundraising activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School.
