Job Details
The Student & Young Adults Pastor serves under the leadership of the Family & Discipleship Pastor and is responsible for discipling middle school, high school, and young adults (college-age through early adulthood). This role exists to build a clear, intentional discipleship pathway that moves students into spiritually healthy, missionally engaged adults who are fully integrated into the life and leadership of the church.
This position emphasizes spiritual formation, leadership development, volunteer multiplication, and alignment with the church’s Family Discipleship strategy.

- Establish reasonable office hours and remain accessible to students, young adults, parents, and volunteers
- Work collaboratively within the Family Ministry team, maintaining alignment with church-wide vision and strategy
- Set ministry objectives, lead, and create long-term discipleship, leadership development, and generational continuity
- Champion a home-centered, church-supported model of discipleship
- Develop clear on-ramps, pathways, and next steps for spiritual growth
- Equip parents, mentors, and small-group leaders as primary spiritual influencers
- Build ministries that scale through leaders, not personality-driven programming
- Pastoral Leadership – Serve as pastor to students and families
- Discipleship Strategy – Implement a student discipleship pathway aligned with the broader Family Discipleship framework
- Teaching & Preaching – Teach regularly in student environments and occasionally in corporate worship or church-wide settings
- Student Gatherings – Provide leadership for student worship services, leadership development, and service opportunities
- Small Groups & Sunday School – Recruit, train, and support leaders; ensure curriculum alignment, student safety, and effective communication with parents
- Safety & Policies – Ensure all staff and volunteers working with students complete background checks and follow church safety policies
- Family Ministry Alignment – Collaborate with Children’s Ministry on VBS, family events, and the transition of children into student ministry
- Missions & Outreach – Develop age-appropriate local, national, and global mission experiences
- Volunteer Development – Identify, train, and multiply adult leaders and student leaders
- Retreats & Trips – Oversee planning and execution of student retreats and mission trips
- Environment Stewardship – Maintain clean, safe, and welcoming student ministry spaces, in alignment with MFB Safety Guidelines
- Discipleship & Formation – Lead a young adult discipleship strategy that addresses theology, spiritual disciplines, calling, relationships, and life transitions
- Transition Leadership – Intentionally shepherd students from high school graduation into young adult spiritual community and service
- Teaching & Community – Provide biblical teaching and facilitate environments that foster authentic community and accountability
- Leadership Pipeline – Identify and develop young adults to serve in broader church ministries and leadership roles
- College Engagement – Build relationships with local colleges and create outreach pathways for college students
- Integration into Church Life – Guide young adults toward serving, church membership, mission involvement, and multi‑generational community
- Manage assigned ministry budgets with excellence and stewardship
- Participate in annual planning, goal-setting, and evaluation processes
- Maintain accurate communication, calendars, and follow-up systems
Salary: $50,000 - 65,000 annually
