The Field Service Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Mauldin, SC. This role is responsible for installing, commissioning, and maintaining Metkon instruments and related equipment at customer locations, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime. Day-to-day tasks include performing diagnostics and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and software issues, completing preventive maintenance, and calibrating systems according to specifications. The technician will train customers on proper use and care of equipment, document service activities, and communicate recommendations for repairs, upgrades, or spare parts.
The role also involves collaborating with internal teams to report recurring issues, support continuous product improvement, and uphold safety and quality standards during all service activities.
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, with hands-on experience servicing laboratory or industrial equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings.
- Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for mechanical, electronic, and software-related issues.
- Competence in using hand tools, diagnostic instruments, and measurement devices safely and effectively.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for customer training, service reporting, and internal collaboration.
- Customer-focused mindset with responsiveness, reliability, and professionalism in on-site interactions.
- Basic computer literacy, including use of service management software, email, and document tools.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and travel locally or regionally as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent; a technical certificate or associate degree in electronics, mechanics, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous field service experience in materials testing, laboratory instruments, or similar equipment is an advantage.
Salary Range:
$70-85k per year depending on experience plus comprehensive and competitive benefits package.
