Job Purpose

The main responsibilities of this position include the application of Dana axle and driveshaft products and technologies to OE customer passenger and light truck/SUV platforms.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Warranty engineer will develop inspection and testing procedures of returned components to determine root cause analysis.
  • Retrieve warranty performance data from customer web sites and analyze various performance tracking tools.
  • Manage weekly warranty review meetings with the Engineering, Sales and Plant personnel to keep corrective actions on track.
  • Manage customer communications within Dana, Suppliers and the assigned OE with the 8D process.
  • Accurately record all warranty costs along with accounting personnel in accurate forecasting and reporting to Sarbanes Oxley requirements.
  • The warranty engineer will inspect prototype tested assemblies and supply reports to the engineering community.
  • Develop a roadmap in Shainin Red-X problem solving training and certification to Journeyman.
  • Education and Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in engineering or may consider equivalent education.
    • Demonstrated the mechanical skills needed to identify products as well as product deficiencies
    • Past warranty or Tech Service experience would be preferred
    • Drivetrain component product and application background would be preferred
    • Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a team environment including root cause analysis experience utilizing "8D's", "5 Why" and/or Red X tools
    • A.S.Q. Certified Quality Engineer preferred
    • Demonstrated competence in quality related statistics and process controls
    • Must have strong analytical skills
    • Motivated individual who accepts responsibility
    • Excellent organizational skills
    • Excellent written and verbal skills
    • Strong computer software skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and preferably Minitab
    • Must be able to travel internationally when needed.
