Position Overview
We’re looking for an AR Collections Specialist who owns their portfolio, builds relationships with attorneys and firm leadership, and knows how to move money while protecting trust.
What You’ll Do- Own end‑to‑end collections activity for an assigned client portfolio, managing outreach, follow‑up, and resolution with urgency and precision.
- Maintain accurate, detailed records of all collection activity in the firm’s AR Collections Software.
- Prepare reports and analyses that keep leadership informed of portfolio performance, aging trends, and opportunities to accelerate cash flow.
- Facilitate regular meetings with billing attorneys and firm leadership, including CFOs and partners, to surface collection opportunities and recommend action.
- Act as a strategic liaison between clients and attorneys, resolving balance disputes while preserving and strengthening the attorney‑client relationship.
- Communicate clearly and credibly with executive‑level stakeholders; redirect difficult conversations with composure and professionalism.
- Identify when issues require escalation and proactively bring forward relevant context, client history, and a recommended course of action.
- Anticipate risk across your portfolio; flag potential issues before they become critical.
- Exercise sound independent judgment while knowing when to loop in leadership or legal counsel.
Starting pay ranges from $55,000 – $65,000 annually.
What You Bring- 7+ years of combined experience in collections, accounts receivable, customer service, or accounting—with collections as a primary responsibility.
- Demonstrated experience managing a meaningful client portfolio (ideally 300+ accounts) with a clear system for prioritization, follow‑up, and organization.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred.
- Executive‑level communication: concise, credible, and composed in written and verbal interactions with attorneys, partners, and firm leadership.
- Strong critical thinking and research skills; you investigate before escalating and come forward with a point of view.
- Proactive ownership mindset: you seek out work, complete onboarding and training independently, stay responsive in a remote environment, and don’t wait to be asked.
- Exceptional organizational and time‑management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities across a large portfolio.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
- Previous experience in a law firm, legal services environment, or accounting firm strongly preferred.
We are an equal opportunity employer. All applicants will be considered for employment without attention to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran or disability status.
