The University of Toledo Physicians (UTP) is seeking Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants to join our expanding General Cardiology and Electrophysiology (EP) service line. This position offers a unique opportunity to practice comprehensive cardiovascular care while gaining exposure to electrophysiology within a collaborative, academic medical environment that values teamwork, education, and tradition.
As a member of the Division of Cardiology, you will provide high-quality inpatient care to patients with a wide spectrum of cardiovascular conditions, including arrhythmias and cardiac device management. You will work closely with a collegial team of physicians, advanced practice providers, and administrative staff, contributing to both clinical excellence and medical education.
Schedule:- Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Every 7th weekend clinic coverage
- Provide comprehensive care for general cardiology and electrophysiology patients.
- Conduct inpatient consultations, daily rounding, and ongoing patient management.
- Lead outpatient clinic visits including new evaluations, follow-ups, and device checks.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, residents, and fellows in an academic environment.
- Participate in case discussions, patient education, and multidisciplinary coordination.
- Training available for APPs seeking to grow their electrophysiology skillset.
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
- Master’s degree in the appropriate field
- State of Ohio licensure as a Nurse Practitioner/Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant
- National certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- Acute Care certification required for Nurse Practitioners
- Certificate of Authority (COA) from the Ohio Board of Nursing or Ohio State Medical Board
- BLS certification
- Eligible to obtain and maintain Certificate to Prescribe and DEA registration
- Minimum of one year of experience in a General Cardiology setting
- Electrophysiology experience preferred but not required

- Must be able to work flexible hours, shifts, holidays and weekends.
- Must tolerate busy environment that requires constant interaction with patients, employees, students, residents, and physicians.
- Requires prolonged walking and standing; occasional lifting of patients sometimes over 200 pounds.
- Occasional carrying of items weighing up to 30 pounds required.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range; manual dexterity.
- Requires the ability to operate various types of office equipment, including but not limited to:
Personal computer, fax machines, copiers, telephones. - Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment on a daily basis.
- Must be able to work effectively with internal and external customers in stressful situations.
