Overview
Midwest Detox Center is seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a full-time position in our Toledo and Maumee facilities. The LPN will work under the direction of the Director of Nursing and Charge Nurses. Full-time night shift 6p-6a.

- 1+ years of experience as an LPN in a detox or similar treatment facility environment
- State LPN license in good standing
- Maintains current CPR certification
- Detox and Psychiatric Nursing experience required
- Experienced in administering medication orally, subcutaneously, and IM
- Ability to recognize signs and symptoms of withdrawal pain and of a critically dangerous medical emergency and respond appropriately
- Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Able to respond physically with swiftness to a patient emergency
- Able to respond calmly and timely during an emergency or potential emergency situation
- Familiarity with ASAM criteria preferred
- Familiarity with JCAHO Standards of Care for Behavioral Health
- Electronic Health Record experience
- Administers prescribed medications as prescribed by the medical team
- Makes independent decisions within the scope of their license involving patient care
- Uses sound judgment to inform the Chief Nursing Officer/Charge Nurse and the Medical Director of all decisions made and when/how they should be communicated
- Monitors and records through the Electronic Health System all aspects of patient care, including nursing assessments at intake and shift assessments
- Discharge assessments and related nursing actions; follows universal infection control precautions and ensures direct care staff do so as well
- Reconciles medications at the end of each shift and maintains logs of distribution of controlled substances in accordance with regulations
- Ensures that during shift change the nurse on duty is properly informed of information needed to continue high standards of care
The Detox Nurse is instrumental in guiding the patient through their detox process per the physician's orders, educates the patient about their condition, and assists the physician and ARNP with accurate clinical reporting, nursing assessments at intake, discharge planning, and routine reports needed for insurance patients. This position is responsible for proper administration, reconciliation, storage and security of all medications. The Detox Nurse reports to the Chief Nursing Officer.
