Quality Manager
Stable, profitable automotive supplier is seeking a Quality Manager to oversee three quality professionals with an average tenure of 20+ years. The Quality Manager will report to the General Manager and will be responsible for the following duties:
- Motivating, coaching and developing the quality staff
- Fostering a collaborative, team oriented culture with all internal and external manufacturing partners
- Maintaining and improving the quality management system
- With the assistance of your staff, overseeing the APQP process
- Taking ownership as the point of contact for all customer quality concerns
- Championing all supplier quality engineering initiatives, including qualifying new suppliers and completing supplier audits
- Completing root cause analysis within a team environment and initiating countermeasures
- Communicating with customers on the status of quality concerns and corrective actions
- Resolving customer and supplier quality issues
- Championing IATF and ISO certification and compliance process
- Managing the site gage calibration, capability studies and quality KPIs and metrics
- Preparing PPAPs for new model activity
- Representing the location as the quality professional for all internal corporate audits
- Completing quality analysis and reports within the company ERP system
- Maintaining and improving work instructions and operator documentation
- Focusing on continuous improvement activities of the quality group and the manufacturing processes
- Other duties as directed by management
Candidates should enjoy working in a team environment, communicating with other departments in order to meet production and quality goals, overseeing CI activities to enhance the department and spending up to 30% of their time on the production floor. Requirements for the Quality Manager:
- Ideally a Bachelor's degree; equivalent experience would be acceptable
- Depending on the level of completed education, at least 3-10 years in a similar automotive quality leadership position
- Experience performing quality functions in Tier I or Tier II automotive supplier manufacturing environments
- Experience working in IATF certified environments
- Experience as the point of contact for customer quality concerns
- Experience with control plans, FMEA and PPAPs
- Strong formal problem solving skills
- Microsoft Office, including MS Excel skills with pivot tables and Vlookups
Skills preferred, but NOT required:
- PC-DMIS software
- Technical Bachelor's degree
- Minitab
- Supervision of others
- Stamping or fabrication
- Slated for growth
