Position Title: Middle School Science Teacher

Qualifications: Valid Arkansas 4-8 science or K-6 license teaching certificate

Job Goals: Implement the educational program for students

• Diagnose the achievement level of each student
• Plan, prescribe and direct learning activities
• Motivate students to learn
• Create and maintain an atmosphere conducive to learning at instructional stations and activities
• Evaluate progress of students and inform them continuously
• Assist with counseling for academic, personal, social, and career improvement
• Implement school or district curricular goals
• Ensure that substitutes have information for effective instruction
• Prepare and follow effective lesson plans
• Assist in developing school and district curricula
• Assist in assessing school and district needs for instructional materials and equipment
• Prepare for principal lists of material and equipment needs
• Inform students of relevant regulations
• Confer with parents on students’ progress and attitudes
• Supervise students in corridors, rest rooms, lunchrooms, school grounds, etc. according to board policy
• Assist in enforcement of school regulations
• Participate in all prescribed in‑service programs
• Maintain records for pupil accounting, progress, inventories, collection of money
• Check attendance and report absences and tardies
• Support clubs and activities equitably
• Take responsibility for issued materials and equipment
• Know board of education policies, desegregation plan, district and school guidelines and regulations
• Supervise early and late bus students
• Attend faculty meetings
• Participate in professional activities related to subject area
• Keep informed of latest curriculum developments
• Other duties as assigned

Salary Range: Teacher Salary Schedule; placement depends on education and experience

Length of

Contract:

190 days per contract year
