We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a Regulatory and Rates Analyst (SGL 16) to work in a hybrid capacity from one of our offices in Arkansas, Maine, Oklahoma, or remotely from Texas.
Position SummaryDevelops and prepares revenue requirements, cost of service studies and other rate and regulatory filings to support Summit Utilities, Inc. strategies and objectives. In collaboration with department management and senior team members, reviews analysis and participates in formulating law, rules and policy at state and federal levels.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Support the implementation of rate changes and the administration of existing rates and tariffs.
- Plan and prepare required regulatory reports, annual compliance filings, data responses, ordered compliance filings and other similar non-rate case filings.
- Assist team members in assembling, analyzing, and reviewing rate change proposals associated with purchased gas adjustment and demand cost filings.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable requirements concerning rates, gas costs and tariff-related matters.
- Assist with preparation of regulatory filings including testimony, schedules, work papers, requests for information and briefs on a timely basis and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Gather and analyze financial information and operating statistics for development of regulatory strategies.
- Support the preparation of major rate and regulatory projects.
- Align with senior team members in monitoring and communicating to senior management key developments in rate and regulatory matters that impact Summit Utilities or its business environment.
- Work closely with industry associations to coordinate industry responses to key rate and regulatory issues.
- Establish and maintain communications with members of the various Summit Utilities departments.
- Collaborate with other departments to identify and research current issues or trends affecting the regulatory environment.
- Attend workshops and conferences to monitor regulatory proceedings and identify trends or decisions relevant to the Company's regulatory objectives.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Three (3) years' experience in rate or regulatory matters preferred.
- Minimum one (1) year experience with financial systems.
- Previous experience in the natural gas industry or regulated utility desirable.
- Excellent Excel skills required and professional writing abilities required.
- Solid background and knowledge of financial systems, with SAP or Oracle experience preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with excellent Excel skills.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to analyze data and historical trends to assess reasonableness and accuracy of entries and financial results.
- Business and financial understanding; excellent collaboration and communication skills.
- Ability to work with limited supervision and multi-task in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to present to internal and external audiences and to clearly articulate complex information to varied stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and project-planning skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks within tight timelines.
