Summary: The Residential Lead provides the necessary supports for individuals with an intellectual and/or developmental disability to live as independently as possible within an AEDD residential environment. The residential lead provides direction and support to the other residential direct support professional staff in support of providing services to enable persons with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities to live, work and enjoy recreational opportunities in the community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Participates in program activities for those served by the agency, chaperones group-sponsored trips and social functions, as well as escorts individuals on trips outside of the establishment for shopping and recreation.
  • Completes grocery shopping, orders supplies and determines need for maintenance, repairs, and furnishings.
  • Communicates with other Direct Support Professional staff concerning daily activities of residents, menus, facility chores, etc.
  • Asserts need for and secures services of physician as well as escorts individuals on trips outside of the establishment for medical or dental services.
  • Assist resident(s) with maintaining appropriate behavior and showing respect for other individuals at home and in the community.
  • Assist resident(s) in daily living skills as outlined in the annual Medicaid Waiver Person Centered Service Plan, Outcomes and Goals section.
  • Increase resident(s) community awareness by participating in outings to include but not limited to: shopping, social/community events, appointments, vocation, banking, church of choice (if applicable) and other locations of interest.
  • Provide transportation, as needed via personal vehicle. In order to provide transportation services you must, at all times, have the AR State minimum level of auto liability insurance requirements and a valid AR driver’s license.
  • Maintain records of money spent for resident(s) served to turn into the Direct Care Supervisor.
  • Provide input and recommendations for resident(s) during Annual PCSP plan.
  • Observe and document consumer’s daily progress on timesheets, behavior incident reports, etc.
  • All weekly casenotes, medication and travel documentation must be completed and submitted within Casenotes by 10:00am every Monday. All casenotes should be completed during the scheduled shift.
  • Communicate effectively with resident(s) and to understand written activity plans, execute instructions, and document services delivered.
  • Provide support to resident(s) including health and independent living skills/activities of daily living. Instructions/assistance including, but not limited to the following areas as they relate to each resident’s Individual Program Plan:
  • Maintaining a clean and organized bedroom.
  • Taking care of the shared rooms by keeping them clean.
  • Keeping the yard attractive and clear of debris.
  • Appropriate use of the telephone and being courteous of housemates regarding its usage.
  • Maintaining appropriate behaviors in social situations.
  • Proper use of clothes washer/dryer.
  • Proper personal hygiene.
  • Assist with mending and sewing needed for the house or residents.
  • Counsels residents in identifying and resolving social or other problems
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

    Confidentiality: All employees of AEDD have a legal and ethical responsibility to maintain privacy of those served, including obligations to protect the confidentiality of Persons Served and other Confidential Information such as financial data and operational information pertaining to the organization. Unauthorized release of information such as information regarding staff, those served or internal business of AEDD constitutes breach of confidentiality.

    This includes release to other served, other staff, family member, or members of the public.
