Pay Rate:
Starting at $19.25 per hour, paid weekly.
Shift: 4 days per week. Day off during the week is determined by assigned route. Start time varies from 4:30 am to 6:30 am to end of route.
The Driver Route Hybrid NonCDL provides commercial non‑CDL driving in the Shred‑it and Medical Waste business as needed. The position covers routes when other team members are on vacation or sick, including those at remote transfer locations. Responsibilities include delivering industry‑leading service to clients while handling customer document destruction or medical waste removal. Route Drivers are integral members of the Operations team, representing Shred‑it and Medical Waste and upholding WMHS policies, standards, and practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- On‑site and off‑site document destruction of confidential information.
- Pickup and transport of medical waste and other waste materials in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Plan daily schedule based on customer needs by reviewing daily paperwork (manifest, route sheets, previous VCR, etc.).
- Prepare and load trucks for service to selected accounts, ensuring sufficient supplies.
- Verify that customers have properly packaged and prepared waste before transport.
- Provide the highest level of customer service to assigned accounts and communicate any issues to the Transportation Manager, Supervisor, or Dispatcher.
- Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip checks, and driver check‑in on the assigned truck.
- Keep vehicle and equipment safe and operational to minimize injury and damage.
- Comply with all local, state, and federal laws governing driver fitness and hours of service.
- Maintain accurate and legible paperwork, including the DOT Driver Log if applicable.
- Ensure secure storage of documents in consoles and containers, using hand‑held devices to track barcoding and inventory accuracy.
- Notify the Transportation Supervisor or Dispatcher of any route changes or customer issues prior to closing the day.
- Manage assigned routes to guarantee timely and accurate service.
- Handle and respond to all customer problems and inquiries promptly.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as directed.
- 3 years of experience driving shred trucks or box trucks.
- Minimum age of 21 years.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to obtain a medical card as required for CMV drivers.
- Mandatory immunizations and credentialing may be required based on customer requirements.
- High School Diploma or GED (accredited).
- Standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, sitting, talking, hearing.
- Work conditions include both indoor garage/shop or gas plant environments and outdoor conditions, including inclement weather, heat, and humidity.
