Warehouse Supervisor – 1st Shift – Full Time
Location:
Little Rock, AR. Position is full‑time and eligible for benefits, including medical, dental, vision, paid time off, a 50% discount on Scholastic merchandise, and a 401(k).
- Assist in the recruiting and hiring process for warehouse staff.
- Conduct orientation and mentoring for newly hired associates during a 90‑day orientation period.
- Supervise, develop, and train all warehouse personnel and maintain peak level of associate morale and motivation.
- In conjunction with the Branch Manager or Production Manager, evaluate and document warehouse associates’ job performances; conduct all warehouse performance appraisals; recommend salary changes; and set performance goals.
- Adhere to local, state, and federal regulations, including but not limited to OSHA, DOT, and EEOC.
- Investigate job‑related incidents (Workers’ Compensation) and file reports in conjunction with the Branch Manager.
- Participate in or direct monthly safety meetings to minimize accidents and promote a wellness attitude among staff.
- Schedule staff and maintain attendance records.
- Assist in Labor Hours Tracking – Actual vs. Budget.
- Assist the Branch Manager or Production Manager in the use and execution of the production planning system and management of Branch P&L’s.
- May be responsible for closing out fairs, ensuring all cases, displays, and boxes are staged and properly labeled.
- May prepare daily packing schedules.
- May oversee fair packing production or replenishment of stock from bulk to shelves, as well as the unloading of trucks and cases.
- May oversee packing and display of product in accordance with schematics, to ensure customer requests and needs are satisfied, including matching loading procedures to warehouse/driver sheets.
- May assist with physical inventory counts, open houses and warehouse sales.
- Ensure that warehouse equipment/tools are properly utilized to increase productivity, efficiency, and safety, and report any unsafe conditions, equipment, or injury to Manager.
- Use and monitor proper techniques for lifting, packing, handling heavy objects, climbing ladders, and pushing/pulling cases.
- Fill accurate data on labor data collection cards.
- May operate forklifts during peak business periods (if certified – must be at least 18 years of age).
- Perform other duties as requested by the Branch Manager.
- High School Diploma or GED Certificate required;
College Degree preferred. - Minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory role.
- Prior experience with a distribution or manufacturing organization preferred.
- Ability to analyze, develop, initiate, and implement plans and strategies to achieve goals.
- Strong computer skills; ability to navigate the internet, MS Office, and email.
- Ability to utilize scanner systems effectively with minimal errors.
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and direct associates.
- Ability to prioritize and meet critical deadlines.
- Physical ability to lift/carry 50 lbs., push/pull up to 300 lbs., and climb ladders without assistance.

- Strong team player who gets along with co‑workers.
- Good verbal/written communication skills, basic math skills, and ability to read.
- Forklift experience is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record. (If operating the company vehicle – motor vehicle record check and drug screening required.)
