Warehouse Supervisor - 1st Shift - Full Time Benefits Eligible

We are currently in search of a 1st Shift Warehouse Supervisor to support our local branch team. This full‑time position offers medical, dental, and vision benefits, paid time off, a 50% discount on Scholastic merchandise, and a 401(k). Qualified candidates will support the Branch Manager in planning, scheduling, directing and executing the day‑to‑day warehouse activities of a branch in the Book Fair Organization, ensuring adherence to company standards and policies and optimal team performance.
Responsibilities- Assist in recruiting and hiring warehouse staff, conduct orientation and mentoring during the 90‑day period.
- Supervise, develop, and train all warehouse personnel, maintaining morale and productivity.
- Evaluate and document warehouse associate performance, conduct appraisals, recommend salary changes and set goals.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA, DOT and EEOC.
- Investigate incidents, file Workers’ Compensation reports and facilitate monthly safety meetings.
- Schedule staff, maintain attendance records, and assist with labor hours tracking.
- Support use of the production planning system and manage Branch P&L.
- Close out fairs, ensuring all cases, displays, and boxes are staged and labeled correctly.
- Prepare daily packing schedules and oversee packing and replenishment of stock.
- Assist with physical inventory counts, open houses and warehouse sales.
- Ensure proper use of equipment and tools, report unsafe conditions and injuries.
- Follow lifting, packing and handling safety procedures.
- Fill accurate data on labor collection cards.
- Operate forklifts during peak periods (certified and 18+ years old).
- Perform other duties as requested by the Branch Manager.
- High School Diploma or GED (College degree preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience.
- Experience in a distribution or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Analytical and strategic planning skills.
- Strong computer skills (MS Office, internet, email).
- Proficient scanner usage with minimal errors.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Ability to prioritize and meet critical deadlines.
- Physical ability to lift 50 lbs., push/pull up to 300 lbs., climb ladders; reasonable accommodations may be made.
- Availability for overtime and weekends.
- Team‑player attitude.
- Good verbal and written communication, basic math and reading skills.
- Forklift experience a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record.
Salary: $55,000 – $60,000 per year.
