Description:

The Speech Therapist position assesses and treats speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
The goal is to help individuals enhance their ability to communicate and swallow safely.
Essential job duties include performing direct patient care by assessing and treating speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
Speech Therapists complete patient documentation, including initial evaluations, plans of care, progress reports, and discharge reports.
They contact insurance companies regarding benefits.
Preparation for evaluation and treatment sessions is required.
Education must be provided to staff, including nurses, physicians, dietitians, and food service workers regarding results and recommendations following evaluations.
Guidance based on the most up-to-date research should be offered.
Creating in-service presentations and educational opportunities for the staff is part of the role.
Collaboration with healthcare providers is essential for providing patient-centered treatment.
Speech Therapists clean treatment rooms following sessions.
They provide reminder calls to patients.
Aiding patients and families in navigating the hospital is also necessary.
Speech Therapists may be asked to perform other duties as requested.
