American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery/OB RN for a night shift position requiring an active WI or compact RN license and cross-training to Med Surg/EICU as needed.
Details- Work in the Labor & Delivery/Obstetrics unit of a hospital setting
- Care for maternal and newborn patients
- Cross train and provide care to Med Surg/EICU patients when needed
- Night shift schedule, , 12-hour shifts
- Two 12-hour shifts per week with weekend rotation required
- Uses fetal heart monitoring equipment
- Active Wisconsin RN license (or compact) required
- BLS certification required (AHA) within 1 month of hire
- NRP certification required within 6 months of hire
- ALSO certification required within 1 year of hire
- STABLE certification required within 1 year of hire
- Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification required within 1 year of hire
- Two-year nursing degree required, four-year degree preferred
- No prior experience required
- Complete initial nursing histories, assess patient conditions, and develop individualized care plans
- Triage patient care based on presenting symptoms and administer medications accurately
- Assess labor progression and manage induction of labor and cervical ripening
- Competently manage medical emergencies including prolapsed cord, breech delivery, postpartum hemorrhage, precipitous delivery, uterine rupture, meconium management, abruptio placenta, and placenta previa
- Perform and interpret fetal heart monitoring
- Manage pregnancy-related concerns such as hypertension and diabetes
- Assess newborn condition and recognize situations requiring higher levels of care or surveillance
- Perform neonatal resuscitation within scope of practice and certification
- Recognize and manage neonatal sepsis and monitor newborns for adverse events such as hypoglycemia, hypothermia, and jaundice
- Promote patient education and involvement in newborn care
- Communicate patient status changes promptly and effectively with the care team
