Part-Time position with 2 shifts per week. Night shift hours from 19:00 to 07:30, including weekend rotation.
Job DescriptionThe Registered Nurse position provides quality nursing care for maternal and newborn patients. This position involves cooperation with other professional staff to deliver services that are in line with the caring philosophy of the hospital. The OB RN will also be cross-trained and responsible for caring for Med Surg/EICU patients when necessary.
Responsibilities- Completes initial nursing histories, assesses patients' conditions, and develops individual plans of care for assigned patients.
- Triage patient care based on presenting symptoms.
- Administers medications accurately.
- Assesses labor progression and manages induction of labor and cervical ripening.
- Handles medical emergencies, including prolapsed cord, breech delivery, postpartum hemorrhage, and uterine rupture.
- Performs and interprets fetal heart monitoring and manages pregnancy-related concerns such as hypertension and diabetes.
- Assesses the condition of newborns and intervenes in situations that require heightened surveillance.
- Performs neonatal resuscitation and recognizes cases of neonatal sepsis.
- Monitors newborns for adverse events such as hypoglycemia, hypothermia, and jaundice, and intervenes as necessary.
- Promotes patient education regarding the care of newborns.
- Communicates effectively with the patient care team regarding patient status changes.
- Must hold and maintain a valid Wisconsin Registered Nursing license.
- AHA BLS certification required within 1 month of hire.
- NRP certification required within 6 months of hire.
- ALSO certification required within 1 year of hire.
- STABLE certification required within 1 year of hire.
- Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification required within 1 year of hire.
- Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail are required.
