Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) in this dialysis role is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to hemodialysis patients. Key functions include assessing patients, developing and implementing care plans, administering treatments, and collaborating with healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive patient care. The RN must manage dynamic patient needs efficiently while educating patients and families about their condition and care. This role requires attention to detail, accuracy, and a passion for exceptional healthcare delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Assess hemodialysis patients and develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care.
  • Administer, monitor, and document therapeutic interventions and treatment regimens.
  • Manage rapidly changing patient conditions and delegate care tasks to appropriate team members.
  • Assist providers with patient care needs before, during, and after hemodialysis treatments.
  • Triage and coordinate additional patient care at other facilities as needed.
  • Obtain lab specimens and perform lab competencies and quality control procedures regularly.
  • Educate patients and family members about disease processes, care needs, and safety precautions.
  • Participate in daily huddles, monthly meetings, and clinical decision-making activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors, directors, or providers.
Required Skills & Certifications
  • Wisconsin Registered Nurse license (active and maintained).
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
  • Minimum of 9 months clinical nursing experience.
  • At least 3 months specialized experience in clinical dialysis care (chronic or acute setting), which may be completed during orientation.
  • Two-year degree in nursing required; four-year degree preferred.
  • Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
Preferred Skills & Certifications
  • Four-year nursing degree (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) preferred.
Special Considerations
  • Work involves care in a hemodialysis clinical environment requiring specialized knowledge.
  • Ability to manage multiple patient stations and delegate care effectively.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills needed for interdisciplinary teamwork.
Scheduling
  • Full-time position comprising three 12-hour shifts.
  • Shift hours from 3:0 AM to 3:30 PM.
