Job SummaryJoin our Festival Foods team as a Deli Assistant Department Manager. You will report to the Deli Department Manager and lead a diverse team in a dynamic grocery setting.
What You’ll Do- Leadership & Scheduling: Assist in achieving labor goals by creating effective associate schedules and collaborating with store leadership on labor objectives.
- Profit & Performance: Contribute to gross profit goals through shrink control and waste reduction.
- Team Development: Reinforce team culture, hiring new associates, providing training and ongoing support.
- Guidance & Delegation: Lead associates, delegate tasks, provide guidance, and support professional growth.
- Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels, accurate pricing, and place vendor orders for events.
- Guest Service: Deliver exceptional service, address concerns, and embody the boomerang principle.
- Department Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness and organization of the deli area.
- Support: Prepare coaching sessions, performance reviews, training checklists, and other documentation.
- Commitments: Maintain regular attendance and provide notice for absences.
- Other Duties: Assist with additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Experience &
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; experience in fast food, deli, or restaurant preferred. - Leadership
Skills:
Ability to motivate and lead a diverse team in a fast‑paced setting. - Technical Knowledge: Understanding of retail food business and perishable operations; familiarity with equipment such as slicers and ovens.
- Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety requirements;
Serve Safe certification required (cost covered if not certified). - Decision‑Making
Skills:
Ability to make timely effective decisions to ensure smooth operations.
- Stand, bend, stoop, kneel frequently.
- Full range of upper‑body motion.
- Lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to varying temperatures such as refrigerators, freezers, and kitchen areas.
This full‑time position has variable shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs.
