Bakery & Deli Manager

The Bakery & Deli Department Manager leads day-to-day operations of the Bakery and Deli departments. With the guidance of the Fresh Food Sr. Manager, this role is responsible for executing plans, maintaining department operations, and ensuring efficient logistical workflows across all assigned fresh areas. Acting as a hands-on leader, this role works side-by-side with Bakery and Deli associates to direct daily tasks, balance inventory and shrink, coordinate vendor orders, and keep teams aligned with operational priorities.

The Bakery & Deli Manager also provides coverage and support for the Senior Fresh Foods Manager as needed.

Essential duties and responsibilities include providing leadership, executing daily operations, creating and managing work schedules, managing inventory and orders, delivering outstanding guest service, maintaining a smooth workflow, ensuring department readiness, providing leadership coverage, ensuring food safety and compliance, training and mentoring, collaborating across departments, ensuring compliance and safety, operating and maintaining equipment, honoring commitments, and supporting the team.

Qualifications include high school education or equivalent, at least five years of grocery, deli, bakery, retail or restaurant experience, thorough knowledge of the retail food business, effective merchandising skills, ability to make timely and effective decisions, ability to deal tactfully and effectively with guests and associates, good oral and written communication skills, thorough understanding of all safety requirements and company safety policies, ability to apply on-the-job safety training, and WI Certified Food Manager License.

Physical demands and work environment include standing in place for long periods, walking, bending, stooping, and kneeling, fine finger and broad manual dexterity, eye-hand-foot coordination, lifting stock, functional sensory abilities, and occasional exposure to extreme temperatures.

Work schedule includes mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
