Crisis Counselor, Mental Health
Lutheran Social Services (LSS) seeks a Crisis Response professional to provide rapid, trauma-informed support to individuals and families experiencing behavioral health, housing, or family crises. In this field-based and telehealth role, you will assess risk, de-escalate situations, and develop safety and stabilization plans while connecting clients to LSS behavioral health, housing, and family services and community resources. You'll collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, maintain timely documentation, and participate in an on-call rotation.

Responsibilities
- Respond to crisis calls and referrals, conducting rapid in-person or telehealth assessments
- De-escalate individuals experiencing behavioral health or housing crises using trauma-informed approaches
- Develop short-term safety and stabilization plans in collaboration with clients and support networks
- Coordinate emergency placements, shelter, or respite care and link clients to ongoing services
- Work closely with behavioral health, housing, and family services teams to ensure continuity of care
- Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and promptly in electronic records
- Collaborate with community partners, law enforcement, and healthcare providers as appropriate
- Participate in on-call rotations, including some evenings/weekends, to ensure 24/7 coverage
- Provide follow-up contacts to monitor safety, support recovery, and reduce repeat crises
- Contribute to case reviews, team meetings, and continuous quality improvement efforts
