POSITION SUMMARY: The Early Head Start (EHS) Center Supervisor is responsible for the early development and education of enrolled children and pregnant mothers and oversees services provided in center-based EHS classrooms as assigned. Responsible for the planning, implementation and monitoring of appropriate infant/toddler curriculum and ongoing child assessment. Ensures safe classroom environments, supervising children at all times. Promotes child development and learning through activities to support individualized goals and objectives for each child enrolled and encourages family engagement in early learning.

Assumes responsibilities to ensure compliance with Office of Head Start (OHS), licensing, and other regulations. Additional duties include supervision, monitoring, and data collection/reporting. Assists with licensing and maintenance of the facility.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a qualified related field. Experience working with children ages birth to five may be substituted for partial requirements with an Associate’s degree. Computer experience with word processing, email, and internet usage. Strong organizational skills and the ability to monitor and prioritize workload and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications: In-depth knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations. Familiarity with Child Plus Data Management system. Two or more years of experience in Early Head Start or other infant/toddler program.

Qualifications:

The position can regularly require lifting and carrying infants and toddlers who may range in weight up to 45 pounds. The position involves standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, sitting and arising from the floor. Position also involves reaching with hands/arms and using hands to manipulate, handle, and feel objects. Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Required Qualifications:

Excellent verbal and written communication and human relations skills. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Dependable, transportation to/from assigned work location.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The EHS Center Supervisor collaborates with staff in each service area within the Head Start/Early Head Start (HS/EHS) program for coordinated service delivery.

CLASSROOM:
  • Plan and oversee the education program for enrolled children and pregnant mothers.
  • Provide direct classroom services to ensure full implementation of curriculum and continual child assessment in accordance with individualized learning goals and objectives for each child.
  • Interact positively with each child throughout all aspects of the daily routine. Implement all dimensions of the infant/toddler Classroom Assessment Scoring System in accordance with best practice.
  • Monitor inventory of classroom materials, supplies, and equipment; recommend purchases and replacement of developmentally appropriate materials as necessary.
  • Assess and maintain facilities for safe and healthy learning environments appropriate for infants and toddlers.
  • Supervise meal preparation and service; collect, track, and report required nutrition services data; maintain current and accurate electronic records; and, prepare and submit timely and accurate reports required by CACFP and other local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings with all Infant/Toddler Teachers. Supervise, train, and mentor EHS staff as assigned.
