Registered Nurse (RN), Behavioral Health – Full‑time Nights, 36hrs/week, rotating weekends

The Senior Behavioral Health Unit (SBHU) at Jackson Purchase Medical Center is an 18‑bed unit that provides specialized care to critically ill patients. The RN – Senior Behavioral Health Unit provides direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

• Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care treatments.
• Documents patient care provided.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharge, referrals, and spiritual/psychosocial support.
• Evaluates learning needs of patients and/or families and provides education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well‑being of the patient.
• Completes physical and mental health assessments.
• Observes and reports behavioral changes.
• Helps patients improve coping abilities.
• Works with families to help improve patient abilities and address family members' mental illness.

• Critical thinking skills
• Decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision
• Capability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action

• Associate's degree required
• Bachelor's degree preferred

• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire
• Handle With Care (HWC) within 45 days of hire

• Registered Nurse licensed to work in the State of Kentucky
• New graduates may work under a KY provisional license for up to 6 months with expectation of obtaining an RN license within the first 6 months of employment.
