Travel Nurse RN - Labor and Delivery

Position

Fusion Medical Staffing – Nursing seeks a Travel Labor and Delivery RN for a 13‑week assignment in Mayfield, Kentucky.

• One year of recent experience as a Labor and Delivery RN
• Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
• Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification

• AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Certification
• STABLE and ACLS Certifications (AHA/ARC)
• Other certifications and licenses may be required

• Communicate labor and delivery procedures to patients and families
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to obstetric nursing techniques
• Prepare equipment and assist physicians during labor and delivery
• Provide immediate postpartum care and stabilize mother and newborn
• Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care
• Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and other team members
• Respond to obstetric emergencies using evidence‑based protocols
• Document patient care, assessments, and interventions
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives
• Perform fetal monitoring and interpret results
• Assist in cesarean sections and other obstetric procedures
• Comply with all regulatory standards, hospital policies, state laws, and federal guidelines
• Perform other duties as assigned within scope of labor and delivery nursing

• Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication skills
• Fluent in English – reading, writing, and verbal
• Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions, proficiency in PC skills
• Physical abilities – stay stationary, move equipment (50–100 lbs), push, pull, bend, etc.
• Interpersonal skills – work effectively with diverse personnel and maintain a positive attitude
• Technical/motor skills – fine manipulation, push/pull, assist with procedures, use equipment
• Mental requirements – cope with public contact, meet deadlines under pressure, handle irregular schedules, maintain concentration and detail
• Visual acuity and effective communication (sensory)
