Registered Nurse (RN), Behavioral Health

Job Type: Full-time Nights, 36hrs/week, rotating weekends

Mayfield, Kentucky. Located in western Kentucky, near Kentucky Lake, the Ohio River, and the Mississippi River.

The Senior Behavioral Health Unit (SBHU) provides specialized care for 18 critical psychiatric patients. The RN will provide direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with scope and standards of practice.

• Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatments.
• Documents patient care provided.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living such as personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support.
• Evaluates learning needs of patients and/or families and provides education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well‑being of patients.
• Completes physical and mental health assessments.
• Observes and reports behavioral changes.
• Helps patients improve coping abilities.
• Works with patients' families to help them manage family members' mental illness.

• Decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Capability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

• Education: Associate's degree required;
  Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire;
  Handle With Care (HWC) within 45 days of hire.
• Licenses: Registered Nurse licensed to work in the State of Kentucky. New graduates may work under a Kentucky provisional license for up to 6 months with expectation of obtaining an RN license within first 6 months.
