Director, Surgical Services, Registered Nurse; RN

Job Overview

We are looking for a registered nurse (RN) to join the Surgery unit at Jackson Purchase Medical Center. The role supports a 5‑bed unit focused on providing specialized care to critically ill patients.

• Develop and implement departmental goals, plans, and standards in line with clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements.
• Direct and evaluate departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technology, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control goals.
• Plan and monitor staffing activities, including hiring, orientation, evaluation, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
• Prepare, monitor, and evaluate departmental budgets, ensuring compliance with allocated funding.
• Coordinate and direct internal and external audits.
• Create and foster an environment that encourages professional growth.
• Integrate evidence‑based practices into operations and clinical protocols.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Serve internal coworkers and external customers, clients, patients, contractors, and vendors.
• Manage the work of others, including planning, assigning, scheduling, and reviewing work to ensure quality standards.
• Handle hiring, termination, training, development, performance reviews, and corrective action for staff.

• Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
• Applicable work experience may be accepted in lieu of education.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire.

• Registered Nurse licensed to work in the State of Kentucky.
