Position: Civil Engineering Project Manager (On-site)

Civil Engineering Project Manager

Our client is seeking an experienced Civil Engineering Project Manager to join its Maynard, Massachusetts, office. This position is responsible for planning, designing, organizing, and managing municipal infrastructure projects while ensuring they are completed according to established schedules, budgets, and quality standards.

Projects will primarily involve municipal water and wastewater systems, including pipelines, pump stations, treatment facilities, utility infrastructure, and stormwater management. The Project Manager will oversee projects from initial planning through permitting and construction while collaborating with engineers, technicians, designers, clients, and regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage municipal infrastructure projects from planning and design through permitting and construction
  • Develop practical and cost-effective plans, specifications, and construction documents
  • Lead hydraulic design projects involving municipal water distribution, wastewater collection, and treatment systems
  • Design pump stations from concept through commissioning, including electrical controls, telemetry, and automation systems
  • Oversee project scope, schedules, budgets, work plans, fees, and financial performance
  • Coordinate and review the work of engineers, technicians, and designers
  • Delegate project tasks and ensure compliance with Quality Assurance/Quality Control standards
  • Perform or oversee hydraulic modeling, hydrology modeling, storm drainage design, equipment selection, cost estimating, feasibility studies, and master planning
  • Support municipal clients in developing long-term infrastructure investment plans
  • Advise clients on potential funding sources for infrastructure projects
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships
  • Identify new business and cross-selling opportunities
  • Mentor team members and support career development, performance planning, and resource sharing
  • Collaborate with teams across the organization
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering preferred
  • Candidates with degrees in related engineering disciplines and relevant experience will also be considered
  • Minimum of 10 years of related engineering experience preferred
  • Professional Engineer registration in Massachusetts, or the ability to obtain it, preferred
  • Advanced degree or project management experience is desirable
  • Experience planning and designing water and wastewater pipelines, pump stations, and treatment facilities
  • Experience with municipal roadways, sidewalks, utilities, and stormwater management is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of hydraulic modeling, hydrology modeling, storm drainage systems, specification writing, cost estimating, feasibility studies, and master planning
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D
  • Strong mathematical, technical, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated project management and leadership abilities
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to commute to or relocate to Maynard, Massachusetts, before starting

The estimated salary range for this position is $115,670–$149,349. Actual compensation will depend on related experience, location, market conditions, education, training, certifications, credentials, skills, and demonstrated proficiency.
