Team OverviewThe ICU is a 6‑bed unit that delivers direct patient care to critically ill adult patients using the nursing process and adhering to applicable scope and standards of practice.
Key Responsibilities- Perform plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care.
- Document patient care provided.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living: personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
- Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
- Evaluate learning needs of patients and families and provide education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
- Advocate for the physical and emotional well‑being of patients.
- Float to other departments as needed to maintain safe nurse‑to‑patient ratios.
- Manage ventilators, CPAP/BiPAP, and vaporisers.
- Titrate and maintain critical drips, including knowledge of indications, contraindications, and side effects.
- Pass a rhythm recognition test within 90 days of hire.

- Current Kentucky or compact state RN license.
- Associate’s degree from an accredited nursing school;
Bachelor’s degree preferred. - Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required within one month of hire.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required within one year of hire.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within one year of hire.
- Handle with Care required within 30 days of orientation.
