Position OverviewThe Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and energetic individual to serve as Day Care Licensing Representative. Under supervision, this position will conduct licensing studies and re-licensing reviews of day care centers and homes to determine eligibility for licensing or re-licensing. The position will conduct on-site inspection and will initiate re-licensing activity, while providing ongoing monitoring of assigned day care centers and homes.

Job Responsibilities- Serve as Day Care Licensing Representative.
- Initiate re-licensing activity (requesting necessary inspections, providing reapplication forms, etc.) prior to the expiration date of day care center and home licenses.
- Provide ongoing monitoring of assigned day care centers and homes, visiting each at least once per year and making additional visits as needed.
- Investigate alleged violations of the Illinois Child Care Act and Department standards and regulations as applied to licensed, unlicensed, and license‑exempt facilities.
- Coordinate services with other local, state, or federal standard‑setting agencies concerned with inspecting, licensing, funding, and monitoring day care centers, day care homes, or group day care homes.
- Obtain fire and health clearances for day care facilities from the Department of Public Health and state and local fire inspectors.
- Maintain client records (including filing documents as needed) in accordance with federal and state statutes and guidelines, Department rule, procedure, and accreditation standards, monitoring to ensure that all documentation from other Department sources has been included.
- Provide input into unit meetings.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in early childhood education or child development.
- Minimum of 18 hours of coursework in child development or early childhood education.
- Two years of professional experience in early childhood, day care center, kindergarten, or a day care licensing program.
- Completion of a background check and self‑disclosure of criminal history.
- Ability to travel in the performance of duties.
- Appropriate, valid driver’s license.
